Talking about killing two birds with one stone, we had the opportunity to connect with Sonia Lee, whom we reached out to via her YouTube channel – sonia is okay. She didn’t just do a transparent review of our Rotary Mouse, she also filled in our user testing feedback form to share her opinions. She’s based in California, and we shipped her a pre-production unit of the Rotary Mouse to test drive. Her feedback and review were exactly the kind of raw, honest insight we need.
The Scrolling Struggle is Real
Sonia works with a lot of files and documentation daily. And if you’ve ever tried to navigate a long document or scroll through endless pages, you know the pain. “When I am trying to get to the bottom of the file, it takes a lot of scrolling, and it is hard to precisely stop when I am scrolling as fast as possible.”
She’s currently using a Logitech Lift Mouse, but the scrolling limitations were pushing her to look for alternatives. That’s when she found us.
What Sonia Loved
Despite the pre-production unit being a work in progress, Sonia saw immediate value. She said, “I think the rotary mouse would be very useful for people like me who have jobs involving a lot of files and documentations!”
She also mentioned wanting to see different colors and a logo on the final version, which is something we’re already working on.
Where We Can Improve
This is where it gets interesting. Sonia pointed out something we hadn’t considered. “I wish the grooves on the wheel would be a little taller, or have just one or two grooves evenly be taller, so that it is easier to grip and rotate. Because sometimes, my finger slips away as I scroll, but having a single taller groove could act as a good grip.”
We noted her comment and will be looking into this for our next iteration before mass production. She also mentioned her interest in a vertical version, noting that standard mouse shapes don’t always provide the most ergonomic thumb placement.
The Good Stuff
Sonia didn’t find the horizontal scroll wheel to be too tight, which is one of our major concerns, and when asked about price, she said she’d expect to pay between $31 and $50. More importantly, she said she’d recommend us to friends, family, and colleagues.
